SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDY

One frequent request made of Love Thy Neighbor Ministries is for someone in our organization to lead a Bible Study group in their nursing home or assisted living facility.

Bible Study groups build spiritual bridges between virtual strangers. Gathering around a table to sing beloved old hymns and pray, learning a little and laughing a lot creates fellowship.

Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing,but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:25)

“Strangers in the world scattered throughout…” We have found that this meeting together of strangers requires some engineering to get it off the ground but a Bible Study group can build a sense of belonging to a faith community with unexpected and far-reaching results.

With that in mind, we’ve established a unique Small Group Bible Study Program. It is a resource designed to equip ordinary Christians who are willing to step up to the task with no special gift but the desire to reveal the heart of God to a population of our community in desperate need of His solace.

Our Volunteers are given training through our Group Leaders Training Class where they learn such things as: Why do a Bible Study Program in a Nursing Home and Things To Do and Not To Do in the group, just to name a few.

After completion the volunteer receives a year’s worth of Bible study lessons, which include participant notes, leader notes and relevant scriptures in large print – all provided on a CD – and 2 CD’s of favorite hymns with 10 large print hymnals.

Separateness is the enemy of spiritual well being. Spiritual isolation within the community increases loneliness, a profound problem among care home residents. Shared faith promotes fellowship, agape love and confidence in the One who has promised He would never leave us or forsake us.
